U.K. Study-on-Location Application (Spring 2018)

This is the application to the Spring 2018 WAU Honors course package and study tour offered in partnership with Newbold College, WAU's sister institution in the U.K.  The package will consist of two 3-credit courses: "Tyrants, Monsters, and Heroes – Shining a spotlight on Dark Age Britain" (HIST 294H) taught by Prof. Robin Anthony, and "Theatre of Religion by the Canterbury poets" (LITR 294H/RELT 294H, or LITR 341) taught by Prof. Peter Balderstone.  Both courses will be taught by Newbold College instructors as hybrid distance-learning courses.

What does that mean?  During the regular Spring 2018 semester, students enrolled in these courses will complete the majority of their coursework online on Moodle (Newbold's equivalent of D2L) on WAU's campus.  They will also periodically meet with a WAU course facilitator on campus to discuss upcoming coursework and travel arrangements.  Following WAU's commencement, students will travel in early May (for approximately two weeks) to Newbold College to complete the on-location portion of their coursework in the U.K.  Dates for the on-location portion of the courses shall be announced by December, 2017.

All travel arrangements and accommodations will be organized and paid for by the WAU Honors College.  Students will stay in Newbold's dorms for the on-location portion of their courses and will be provided with meals, bedding, laundry detergent, and transportation and tickets to field trip locations.  Students admitted to these courses only need to pay regular Spring semester tuition and lab fees.

The application deadline for these courses is Wednesday, October 25 at 11:59pm.  Every application submitted will be forwarded to Student Life and Student Financial Services for review to determine whether you are in good standing with WAU.  All applications will be assessed on a first-come-first-serve basis, meaning individual applications will receive consideration in order of submission.  By submitting this application, you agree that all of the information is complete and 100% accurate, to the best of your knowledge.

If you have any questions about these courses or the application form, feel free to send an email to honorscollege@wau.edu.
